friend sand some olds, particularly one. I hadnt seen him since 8th grade and apparently allot had changed, the first words he said to me shits changed since middle school, Ive been to rehab 3 times This was eye opening moment when I realized that he wasnt the same person as he was when I went to middle school with him. He looked the same but something inside was different. This event was the one that sparked interest into the identity of ex-rehab patient and the struggles of that identity. Previous to this event I had never experienced someone my age that was an addict but 95 percent of the people I know have experienced drug abuse with marijuana and alcohol. Throughout this process of research and observation he has relapse for a 4th time which has created an even deeper involvement in this project seeing the change back to his old ways. How Does Drug abuse Start? His drug abuse started when he entered high school and his story is not unlike the average story. When I was 14 I was at a 4th of July party me and a couple friends took 1 corona for each of us and we drank them, I poured out half and drank the rest. I wasnt interested in alcohol at the time but my friends were. Sometime late freshman year, early sophomore year, I started talking to my cross country team about marijuana. They said is something you just had to experience. So one day found someone who was selling marijuana and I bought a gram and rolled it up and smoked it with those same two friends, the first time I didnt get high. The next day I was at a party and this girl had an older brother and he was smoking with his friends and he invited me. They went up to a new housing development and I got super high after that I want that feeling as much as possible. I knew found what was missing in
Comment [BP4]: Telling stories really helps keep the reader feel locked in and understand a closer view. Comment [BP3]: Maybe not necessarily a separate piece of writing but start off your paper with his incident that lead to his drug abuse. Comment [BP2]: The lead does a good job in explaining how you know the recovering addict first hand and have seen the effects that drug abuse can do to you. Comment [BP1]: Seems like you have pretty firsthand information and do not need new information to support your subject.

my life. Drug addicts call it chasing Jason. With the majority of drug abuse starting with experimentation and pear pressure his experience with drugs stated slow marijuana and alcohol at first like my high school teens. According to a 2010 survey 71% of American teens have experienced drug use by the 12th grade. Through my research I found that theres something thats different within that few percentage of individuals that find themselves becoming addicts. Why was he different? I wasnt close too to many people I lots of friends but for some reason I felt better than or worse than everyone else, it was a fear of self and I had to use drugs as an escape, alcohol would numb me, marijuana would make me feel better, psychedelics would completely remove me from reality. You get to that point that all you want to do is be high, as long as I wasnt me and I didnt except myself for who I was just happier that way. Though his time in multiple rehab and support programs hes learned the underlying reasons for his addictions like most addicts they say there is no reason for what they do; I get drunk or high if the sun is up if the sun is down on a Monday or a Friday but if you want to find the core of the addiction you have to look within. Methods This included interviews and observation over 2 weeks, as well as secondary research about drug abuse and addiction. Through he use of Gees building tasks the identity of a drug addict and a recovering patient was formed through institutional groups like Alcoholics Anonymous.
Comment [BP6]: All paragraphs seem to follow a specific topic that makes very strong points. Comment [BP5]: Seems very specific and stays on the subject of one particular addict.
