Eriq Gale-Anderson WRT 1010 11/26/13 Final reflection The second half of the semester for writing 1010 has been somewhat stressful, but I have learned what I need to fix about my writing. I need to work on my formatting, having clearer ideas in my research papers and organizing my work. Since I know what my weaknesses are, I can practice my formatting, making ideas clearer, and my organization for my work for writing 1020. Besides my weaknesses, I feel that I accomplished worthy goals earlier in the semester. I created a portfolio for class in order to stay organized for the semester, and also I learned what I need to put more time into for my papers. Since writing 1020 is more of a challenge, I feel that I am not prepared as I should be, but by the end of this semester I will be well prepared for writing 1020. I have enough skills, but not completely sufficient skills in writing like I would like. This semester I came across two pieces of writing that was the best part of class and one that challenge me to the fullest. The first piece is the first essay I did which was about my graduation day. I felt good writing about that essay because June 6th was a proud day for me and my family. I used detail to describe how I felt when I woke up and when the night was over. I put a lot of work in that essay, along with emotion. For all of my essays and this one I had to do a prewrite and then a final draft. My prewrite was based on my firsthand experience including a lot of emotions I had. That was straight from the brain. The final draft was more structured after I reread my work and put the events of my day in order. Even though this essay was my favorite, there was one other essay that difficult, but reassuring.

The second essay is my current research paper which is on Juvenile Justice. I have a lot of errors on that paper which frustrates me to the highest extent. I have to work on my formatting for APA and MLA, along with making my ideas clearer and staying with guidelines. From this paper I realized that I have to take the time to structure the paper so my ideas will be in order and clear. Also, I learned the correct way to cite my sources after I wrote my body paragraph. The way I developed this paper was from sources I found and distributed the information throughout the paper without the proper structure. That will be fixed so my work will be clearer and close to a perfect paper. Throughout this class I received help from the Writing Center and Professor Harcourt. I was taught different ways to find research and ways to analyze the information for my paper. Even though I got frustrated and often quitted temporarily, I found that I cant quit and all I need is some help. Asking for help is easy and convenient especially when a grade is on the line.
