I have been to this city at least twenty times for e tended stays. I love the city and am very familiar with it. I am familiar with the pastel Aictorian houses on 0ainbow 0d. Im familiar with the live oaks that line .attery Park. I am familiar with all of it. 4harleston is like a second home to me. 8o for this e perience I would like to go back to 4harleston for another look but with different eyes. I am an 8-I" student and for this honors e perience I would like to visit 4harleston! 84 to analy7e the city through the new eyes "--P has given me. I want to see the history in the architecture of the buildings. I want to see how the newer and older elements of the city combine. I want to see what historic preservation has happened to which buildings. I want to visit any and all historic houses that are open to the public. I want to see! understand! and enjoy the city in ways that I never could have if not for "--P. I also want to document what I am seeing through photography. Photography is a creative art that is enjoyable and essential! especially in my career field. I must document all of my design work as effectively as possible for my portfolio because that is what employers see when deciding whom to hire. 8o learning how to document what I am seeing in ways that portray what I wish is an invaluable skill. Photography is also a lot of fun. 'ho doesnt love taking picturesB I also want to edit all of the pictures that I take of 4harleston in different ways. I want to e plore >-6# ways of editing because creative e ploration is very! very important to developing in my major! but I simply do not have the time to do this with my current workload. 8o my plan is very simple. .efore my trip I will research which historic houses I should devote my time to. I want to mi in houses that have been historically preserved! ones that have been revamped completely! and ones that have not ben touched. I do not particularly care who owned the houses1 I simply want to visit the houses with the most intriguing architecture and interior design. I will also do a lot of research on how to take and edit pictures in different ways. I will probably spend a fair amount of time talking to 0yan .all! a 8-I" studio professor! who has been helping the first years document their work. 3e is very passionate and knowledgeable in this subject area. I want to know how to take pictures correctly and effectively in many different ways before I am in 4harleston. I will also need to know and e plore with different editing techni$ues beforehand so I can edit the pictures after my trip. "uring my week in 4harleston I will spend hours just walking the streets and snapping pictures! many hours. I will visit the historic houses that I chose beforehand. I will immerse myself in the culture. I will take pictures of many things besides buildings as well. I also have a passion for documenting people and nature that I will encourage and e plore during this trip. I do not get the chance to e plore this passion in my regular course work. >y father will also be a great resource for this trip. 3e C:AE8 taking pictures and has the honor of being able to say that he has been to every historic house in 4harleston. 3e will be cra7y enthused and supportive of this project to say the least. -fter my trip I will spend 3:208 on Photoshop editing my photos in different fashions to portray

different ideas. I will also spend time reflecting on my trip particularly how e ploring photography will affect the documentation of my design work and of my life because I want to do more with photography than just portfolio work. I want to be able to use this skill in my life to enhance and remember everything I love. 8o the time commitment will be about twenty hours of research before the trip! about thirty&five hours spent taking pictures and seeing the city during the trip! and about forty or more hours )probably more* after the trip editing pictures )using Photoshop well takes a C:6D time to do* and reflecting on the e perience. 8o that is what I propose. Possess a well&developed awareness of theories and methods in the field. I will do a lot of research in the methods of photography and editing photos for this e perience. I will research through literature and by talking to e perts. I also want to e periment a lot on my own. I know what times and on which mornings the farmers market it. I also know - C:, of history about the city from school and a lot from my dad. I know that 0iver 8t is the oldest part of the city because that is where the water line was when the city was originally built. I know the cobblestone street that pregnant women would ride in buggies over

to induce labor. I know that the fire trucks for the 4ity of 4harleston were made especially for 4harleston so that they would fit through the doors of the original fire departments so to keep the original architecture and materials. .asically! I was made for this project! and this project was made for me. @. 0eflection I will reflect through a blog probably. 'hen it comes to taking notes I do not tend towards anything very structured. 8ome things I will want to reflect on through te t! others through images! and yet others through video. I feel like a blog would allow for this more than other types of media. I will reflect on the research! photographing! and editing aspects of this e perience as I am going through each step. I will also reflect over the entire project as a whole at the end. I feel reflecting throughout the project will be very helpful. ,here may be things that I do not remember or do not reali7e if I do not reflect continuously. ,he final reflection will also be great in looking forward to what is ne t. I will also post a collection of all of the photos I have taken and edited probably with a little te t to e plain the basics. I do want the pictures to speak for themselves though or I will feel as if I have not achieved my goal of being able to clearly portray ideas through photography and editing. G. "issemination 8o as I said above! I plan on posting an album of all of the pictures that I have taken and edited to my blog and then sharing my blog with other "--P students. I will post my blog to places where it is sure to be seen by all fellow "--Pers because I know that the ability to take and edit pictures clearly and effectively is invaluable at "--P. "--P students must know how to portray their design intent through their pictures. :nce all of my fellow classmates know that I can do this I will be the new hot item on the market. In "--P if someone reali7es that you did this or that which was really cool or really effective they firstly say really means things to that person about doing unkind things to themselves as a form a the highest compliment and then they beg the other person to teach them how to do it. ,his is what will happen to me after I post my pictures! and this is great.
