SOA Degree Program (Studio Art):

A1. Intake Data (Audition, Portfolio Review, Other):
Date(s): Late Winter/Throughout Spring 2014.
Activity: Visual Arts Scholarship, aka VAS and VA.
Method of Documentation Used: Portfolio/sketchbook review and personal interview with applicant(s).
Participants: Studio and Design faculty, Art Department Chair, and Art Education faculty.
Responsible Party: Dependent upon which faculty is in charge of individual VAS review date.
A2. Intake Review (Degree Program Faculty):
Date Of Review: Same day as VAS/PVA with applicant.
Data Used: Quality of actual portfolio and sketchbook within the review, as well as the extent of the one-on-one interview, all
noted on VAS rating from.
Key Observations: Knowledge of basic design elements and principles, AP work or not, and evident strengths or weaknesses.
Actions Taken: Acceptance, rejection, and/or determination of either full, partial, or no scholarship monies issued. If in AP
program, report must be sent for further determination of placement within Art and Design Department.
Participants: Studio and Design faculty, Art Department Chair, and Art Education faculty.
Responsible Party: VAS review faculty work together on determination of applicant.
B1. Fall Mid-Term Data Development (Recital, Performance, Exhibition, Portfolio Review, Other):
Date(s): October 2014 (during mid-term exam week)
Activity: Foundations and studio faculty assessment and observations of department objectives within first-year students
coursework.
Method of Documentation Used: Mid-term response papers, projects, critiques, and portfolio reviews.
Participants: All freshman art majors as well as Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.
Responsible Party: Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.
B2. Fall Mid-Term Data Review (Degree Program Faculty, External Reviewer, Accreditation Body, Other)
Date of Review: October 2014 (end of mid-term exam week)
Data Used: Graded coursework. Participation and attendance also factors.
Key Observations: Whether an understanding of course goals area being met by way of strengths/weaknesses within mid-term
critiques and portfolios.
Actions Taken: Course evaluation forms provided to students. One-on-one conferences with students if improvement is
warranted. Possible additional instruction.
Participants: All freshman art majors as well as Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.
Responsible Party: Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.
C1. Fall End-Term Data Development (Intake Report, Fall End Term Report, Surveys, External Reviews, Course Evaluations, Other)
Date(s): December 2014 (during final exam week)

Participants: All freshman art majors as well as Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.
Responsible Party: Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.

C2. Fall End-Term Data Review (Degree Program Faculty, Guest Faculty, Professional Experts, Institutional Research Office, Other)
Date of Review: December 2014 (end of final exam week)
Data Used: Final graded coursework (portfolios and all written/verbal activities). Participation and attendance also factors.
Key Observations: Whether competencies within course objectives were met by way of knowledge and practice as seen in
strengths/weaknesses within final cumulative portfolios.
Actions Taken: Course evaluation forms provided to students. Review of course goals and objectives.
Participants: All freshman art majors as well as Foundations faculty, Studio faculty, and Department Chair.
