Lesson Learner Outcomes Define ABA form as a choreographic tool. Create and perform original movement in ABA form. High Level of Mastery
Student is able to recognize the repetition in ABA form. Student is able to create two movements and perform them in the correct ABA order.

Acceptable Level of Mastery


Student is able to repeat the definition back after hearing it. Student is able to create and perform 2 of the 3 movements of ABA order/form.

Low Level of Mastery


Student is unable to recognize repetition or repeat back the definition. Student is able create and perform the ABA form dance with the visual assistance of their partner.

Teacher will chose three students (2 girls and 1 boy) and have each student create their own dance move. The group will them perform these moves. We will label the moves A, B, and C. Teacher will ask what type of patterns we can make with these three moves. EX: abc, aabbcc, abcabc, cba, etc. Teacher will say: Today were going to about ABA form. The first movement is repeated after a second movement is performed. Students will get in partners (teacher pairs them up by shirt color) and create their own ABA form dance together. Pairs will perform their ABA dances. Students will sit nicely and watch as audience member, noticing the repetition and individuality in performances. Teacher will lead the discussion after all performances are done. Teacher will guide discussion by saying what did you see? How did you feel when performing? Tell me what the definition of ABA form is What else uses this same repetition? Review food dance, any repetition in that. Review Thriller and stage etiquette.
