Citing cases and legislation

A citation for an Australian Act of Parliament should begin with the short title of the Act in italics. The year in which the Act was originally passed should appear in italics following the title. The jurisdiction must be abbreviated (Cth, ACT, NSW, NT, SA, Tas, Vic, WA) and appear in parenthesis. The section of the Act is abbreviated to s and a space should be placed between the s and number. After the first citation the date can be omitted.
