TEKS 7.1 F 7.6 D Title Probability Day 1 Academic Purpose/Outcome The students will formulate the probability of a simple event and reflect the relationship between a simple event and its compliment. Workshop Attachments Probability of Simple Events Flipped Assignments Probability Materials Needed Pencil, pen, and paper Differentiation Considerations Modification - The font on the worksheet will be larger. Accommodation - The students will be given written instructions, and an example to look at. Extension - The students will find a video about probability, and create a worksheet over that video. Instructional Details Each group will complete a Probability of Simple Events worksheet. There will then be a class discussion where each group has to present their findings on 1 question. The teacher will then ask the students what the probability of an event occurring is and what the probability that the event will not occur is. They will then discuss the compliment based on the questions. Formative Assessment/Deliverable Probability of Simple Events

TEKS 7.1 D 7.1 E 7.1 G 7.6 C 7.6 D 7.6 I Workshop Attachments Creating a Family Tree Example for Teacher & Theoretical Peeps Flipped Assignments Probability - Theoretical Probability versus Experimental Probability Materials Needed Pencil, pen, and paper Differentiation Considerations Modification - The font will be larger on the handout. Accommodation - The student will be given written instruction of the activity, and an example if the finish product. Extension - The students will then look up additional traits and see if they can work them into their family trees. Instructional Details The students will be given the traits of four individuals from the two babies they created and two from the Theoretical Peeps list. They will create a family tree by analyzing the probability of the genetic traits of each couple. They will create two children for each couple by drawing out the traits from a bucket. They will have to put each of the possible traits in a bucket and draw out one trait. They will create one tree by experimenting and drawing out their different outcomes and another using theoretical probability. They will create a tree based off of the outcomes they should have drawn. They will do this by selecting the trait with the highest probability. If they have an equal probability, they will get to choose the gene that is passed down. Title Probability Day 2 Academic Purpose/Outcome Students will categorize their probability into two sections and will interpret their understanding by creating two family trees. Formative Assessment/Deliverable The students will find the probability of the genotypes passed down from the 1st generation to the second generation. They will begin creating their family trees for the experimental and theoretical trees.

TEKS 7.1 B 7.6 D 7.6 E Title Probability Day 3 Academic Purpose/Outcome The students will differentiate between simple and compound events. They will then calculate the probability of compound events. Formative Assessment/Deliverable The students will create their third generations of their experimental and theoretical probability trees by solving for the compound probability of each second-generation couple.

Materials Needed Pencil, pen, and paper Differentiation Considerations Modification - The font will be larger on the worksheet. Accommodation - The student will be given an example of one of the problems worked step by step. Extension - The student will make up their own compound problem, and work it to have an answer key.

Instructional Details The students will analyze the traits of the second generation and will select the traits that will be passed down to their children by selecting the greatest compound probability for their experimental data. If they have an equal probability, they will get to choose the gene that is passed down. They will create the compound experimental probability by drawing two traits back to back.

TEKS 7.1 F 7.1 G 7.2 D Title Ratios Academic Purpose/Outcome Students will explain the process of converting from a fraction to a decimal. Materials Needed iPad or pencil and paper Differentiation Considerations Modifications - The students font will be larger on the converting worksheet. Accommodation - The students will have certain parts of their worksheet filled in for them and they will have to fill in the rest. Extension - The student will find a video on line about converting and make up five questions for that video. The student will also construct an answer key for their questions. Instructional Details Each group will come up with as many comparisons as possible from the Comparing Activity. They will write these down on their iPads or paper. The teacher will introduce the concept of ratios. The teacher will go over the three representations of ratios. The homework will be that the students complete the first three columns of the Converting Worksheet. Formative Assessment/Deliverable The Converting Worksheet will be included in their final presentation.

TEKS 7.1 F 7.1 G 7.2 D 7.4 B Workshop Attachments Converting Worksheet & Fractions to Decimals Worksheet Flipped Assignments Converting Fractions to Decimals Example Materials Needed iPad or pencil and paper Differentiation Considerations Modifications - The students font will be larger on the converting worksheet. Accommodation - The students will have certain parts of their worksheet filled in for them and they will have to fill in the rest. Extension - The students will research how to convert from decimal to percent to get background knowledge for tomorrow. Instructional Details The students will watch a video on converting fractions to decimals. They will then answer the questions on the Fractions to Decimals Worksheet. The first five minutes of class will be used for each group to collaborate and go over what they learned. We will then review and answer any questions. The students will take the data from the Converting Worksheet and use it to complete the next columns (decimal representation). The students will divide their numerator by their denominator to obtain their decimals representation. The students will complete each part of the Converting Worksheet after it has been taught. Title Ratio Conversions Academic Purpose/Outcome Students will implement the process of converting from a fraction to a decimal. Formative Assessment/Deliverable The Converting Worksheet will be included in their final presentation.
