Lesson Plan

Students will be able to demonstrate basic dribbling & passing skills ball while participating in various drills. Cognitive: 1. Students will understand the concept of finding open space and correct angles when dribbling & passing a basketball. Affective: 1. Students will show respect for all peers while engaging in the passing activities throughout the lesson.

Peer Assessment

AGENDA Time 0-10 min Agenda- Include detailed instructions for activities and transitions here Warm-Up: (10 minutes) Students will enter the gymnasium and get into parallel lines of equal students with the student at the front of the line being the line leader. Students will conduct their regular in class warm-up Explain to students the days lesson activity. Lead Up Games: Dribbling Drills: (10 Minutes) Students will perform the following drills up and down the court: Right hand, Left Hand, Behind the back, Spin move, Through the legs Students will perform the following drill up and down the court stopping and starting at designated points on the court. Dribble to the first target and back up, this dribbling technique is used to simulate an offensive player backing away from pressure. Teaching points, extensions, challenges, safety, accommodations Make sure students are performing warm up with proper technique. Stress importance of warming up safely to prevent any injuries throughout the lesson. Stress the importance of safety for all lead up games! During partner line drills, students should use a moderate pace to get used to the feel of dribbling. I will use students who are not dressed up to set up drills.

11-60 min

Partner Passing Drills: (10 minutes) Organize all of the students into pairs. Set up two lines about 5-7 ft. apart Partners line up across from each other and perform assigned passing drills to

half court and return to rear of the same line. Passing Drills include: Chest, Bounce, Overhead pass.

Three Man Weave W/Layup: (15 minutes) Students will start spread out on the baseline in lines of 3 students. The student in the middle will initiate the first pass. The students will create a weave while passing the ball to each other. The student who gets the ball last or closest to the goal will shoot the layup. Students will jog back to starting point and go to the back of the line. From here students will rotate lines. Students will not be allowed to dribble the ball during the drill. Culminating Activity: King of the Court: (15 Minutes) Gather Students in middle of field and explain that we will be playing a full court game Teams will be split up into teams of 5 students per team. The winning team stays on the court while the losing team rotates off the court with a brand new team. Rules of the game: All rules of UIL basketball apply to game. Closure: (5 minutes) Students will be asked discussion questions about the lesson to reinforce passing techniques. Students will place equipment back accordingly Students will proceed to gymnasium, store equipment properly, and wait for dismissal bell.

In Partner Passing Drills, Students will pull out smart device: (Smart Phone, Ipad, Tablet, Etc. if a student does not have one, he will look off of another students device.) and look up youtube links posted to learn how to correctly perform the chest, bounce, &overhead. 60-65 min

Have all students help retrieve equipment in order to speed up cleaning process. Students will be instructed that their test will be online. Students will be informed that the test will be located on my teacher website under the online assessment links. The test will be complete entirely online. The students will be given 1 hr to complete a 5 question test.

Equipment: Smart device, & Basketballs. Warm-Up/Introduction Culminating Activity Closure
