Reflection of Ed.

Philosophy Old Statement: I believe each child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I will help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will assist children in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas. I believe that each needs a secure atmosphere in order to make the most of learning. It is my desire as an educator to help students reach their potential. New Statement: My goal is to have all students engaged 100% of the time. I look forward to collaborating with other math teachers and believe this is an essential part of teaching. I believe it is critical to build a supportive relationship with students, and that they know they can come to my classroom anytime for additional help. By establishing mutual respect, the students will work hard for me, and I will work hard for them. I believe it is also important to involve parents in their students educational process and will make an effort to keep parents informed of what is happening in my classroom. Reflection: My beliefs on teaching have not changed in the sense that I no longer believe what I did as I started on the road to becoming a licensed teacher. It has changed dramatically because Ive built onto what I had and created a more dynamic view of teaching. I recognize to a greater extent how collaboration is a solid foundation for learning to be built upon. Collaboration between teachers in content, cross content, and across multiple schools will create better-prepared teachers that encourage new ideas and create an open atmosphere for learning. Collaboration between students is the biggest difference I see in my philosophy of education. Originally I believed that students should work together, but now I see that students need to work together in order to develop understanding. I also recognize that family and parents have a large effect on student learning and what to use family as a resource for the students learning. I also recognize that not all students have the support they need from family and would like to attempt to compensate for this by creating a healthy classroom atmosphere where collaboration and acceptance is the key.
