Ester 28 October 2013, 8am Prerequisite Knowledge and Skills for this rehearsal Students will have previous knowledge and skills in these areas: Be proficient through level 3B Compound Rhythm Be proficient through level 3B Major and Minor Tonal Demonstrate proper breathing techniques Demonstrate proper vowel production Demonstrate proper English Diction and Latin Diction (Alleluia and Hosanna) Demonstrate use of legato and staccato Behavioral Objectives At the end of this lesson, students will be able to: Demonstrate improved vowel formation (NS1) Accurately echo and translate 3B Compound Rhythmic and 3B Major/Minor Tonal exercises (NS5) Demonstrate improved Latin diction (NS1) Demonstrate improved performance of legato and staccato (NS1) Perform mm. 21-33 accurately and expressively (NS1) Materials 15 copies of Come to the Music by Joseph M. Female students will begin at mm. 21 i. First teach by rote mm. 21-24, then mm. 25-28 ii. Tenors will echo the same sections iii. Basses will echo the same sections iv. Men will sing mm. 21-28 together

Closure Students will be reminded of expressive elements and perform mm. 21-33 with piano accompaniment.

b. Students will perform mm. 21-28 all together i. Students will discuss the staccato markings in their score and how they should be performed, compared to the legato section which precedes it ii. Put the mens sections together a cappella c. Students will echo mm. 28-33 beginning with Sopranos i. Altos will echo the same part ii. The men will learn the same parts, teacher will use the piano and sing in own octave d. Students will perform all together mm .29-33 e. Students will discuss the dynamic markings i. Starts out mf, decrescendo in mm 32 to mp f. Students will perform mm. 21-33 a cappella
