To Whom It May Concern: In my capacity as Sierra Nevada College Supervisor, I supervised the student teaching of Allyssa Little during the fall semester of 2013. Allyssa was clearly one of our exemplary student teachers. In her role of student teacher, she had responsibility for a kindergarten classroom comprised of ELL youngsters and challenged learners. Her teaching strategies, student management, lesson planning and overall program organization exceeded expectations. Among her numerous strengths was her ability to develop and implement motivating and creative lessons addressing the learning level of her students and maximizing student interest and participative involvement. Her circulation and monitoring strategies during learning activities provided support and reinforcement to learners while insuring an orderly and productive learning environment. Allyssa exhibits veteran teacher skills in eliciting student attention during direct instructional presentations, varying her teaching approach so that students of diverse learning modalities, competency levels and motivation remain engaged and at-task in the assigned learning activities. Assessment of student mastery was regularly accomplished through learner products and outcomes that were evaluated formally and informally throughout the course of the learning activities. Because of Allyssas creative lesson planning, skillful lesson implementation, and focus upon an academic classroom environment, discipline problems were minimal. However, when intervention was needed, her style was direct, caring, sensitive and extremely effective. My professional assessment of Allyssa Little places her in the top five-percent of the student teachers that I have observed. She receives my highest professional endorsement for a professional position that is commensurate with her college preparation, classroom training and professional competency..
