Casting Design and Simulation

Certificate Training Programme for Engineering and Polytechnic Teachers 23rd November 2013, SGGSIE&T, Nanded(Maharashtra)
India has the second largest foundry industry in the world, and supplies cast parts to automobile, energy, machine tool and other important sectors. Most of these foundries face quality issues, which can be solved by CAD and simulation technologies. The multiphysics phenomena of flow, heat transfer and stress coupled with material and geometric parameters provide a rich arena for research. There is however, a severe shortage of qualified engineers, teachers and researchers in this field. To meet this gap, E-Foundry Academy (http://efoundry.iitb.ac.in) has been created in the National Knowledge Network mission. It includes online videos, simulation laboratory, library of animations, case studies and technical papers, as well as quizzes, tutorials and discussion hub. Teachers can freely use these resources to enhance their courses and laboratories, plan student and research projects, and interact with the local industry.
