Essential Questions: What resource options are available for researching nonfiction? Procedure: 1. Students list their 3 favorite hobbies on a sheet of paper. 2. Students circle their favorite from those 3. 3. Now students are given instructions for what to do: a. Search the internet about your topic (favorite hobby) b. Choose 5 facts about your topic (i.e. interesting facts, how it started, where it comes from, etc.) c. Turn those facts into a 1 page article using the nonfiction external text structures (headings, bold, pictures, etc.) 4. Students have time in class today and tomorrow to work on their research. 5. Students will type their articles using Google Docs and give a quick 45 second presentation to the class.
