Virtue Reflection

Name: Elan Maj At the beginning of the semester you were challenged to practice a virtue this semester. Tell what virtue you selected to practice and why you selected that virtue: This semester I practiced on being more respectful. I spent time practicing this virtue because I believe it is essential to be respectful in order to succeed in life. Now when I say respectful, I mean it in such a way that it is respect for peoples ideas and being themselves. I dont mean it in the way like showing respect (formal respect) at a fancy dinner with your family.

Relate your progress as you practiced your virtue: Throughout the time practicing my virtue I encountered people and ideas that I didnt completely agree with, but I told myself that I need to respect their ideas or whatever else I didnt agree with. I believe it is the key to getting a long in this world. If we all respect each other, the things we have, and our ideas then we can all get a long. I also found that not caring about what people did as much helped me respect them more. That seems counteractive, but it makes sense; if you pay less attention to what people do, and just let them be who they are you will learn to accept them for that, and thats when you respect them.

Were you satisfied with your progress? Why of why not? I was satisfied with my progress! I feel that now I respect people and accept them for whom they are I can really enjoy that person. For example, I live with four other roommates and they are all different, but I learned to respect who they are, and doing this has made me focus less on the bad and more on the good.
