Safety Precautions
Thunderstorms
Do not work with electrical current in elevated or exposed locations during a thunderstorm.
The RTN 380 is usually installed outdoors. If weather conditions are extreme during an installation, personnel
should follow local guidelines and regulations to safeguard personal health and safety.
The RTN 380 is usually installed in an elevated location, such as on a tower or on the roof of a building. Adhere to
these guidelines for installations in elevated locations:
• Installation personnel must be properly trained and qualified, and meet health requirements.
• Installation personnel should wear helmets and safety belts and should work in pairs or teams so assistance is
always available.
• Do not work in high places during thunderstorms, blizzards, gales, or other extreme weather. When working
outdoors, installation personnel should wear clothes and gloves appropriate to weather conditions, and footwear
that protects against slipping.
Microwave
High-power radio frequency signals are harmful. Avoid exposure to transmissions from the antenna of working
microwave equipment that has this radiation warning symbol ( ). If you install or maintain an antenna on a
tower or pole bearing multiple antennas, avoid exposure to radiation from the other antennas.
Laser
Always wear protective glasses or goggles when you look into an optical port.
High temperature
If the ambient temperature reaches 55℃, the surface temperature of the RTN 380 and PI panel may exceed 70℃.
Wear protective gloves if you must handle the RTN 380 or power injector (PI) panel. A high-temperature warning
label ( ) is attached to the RTN 380 and PI panel.
