OUR MISSION STATEMENT


The counseling program at Mountaineer High School is adheres its program in alignment with the ASCA National Model The Mountaineer High School counseling program is invested in the academic growth, career development and individual advancement of all students. Through a cohesive curriculum, students are provided the tools to acquire knowledge and skills that will develop their potential as active life-long learners.

Academics: We monitor student progress and evaluate the needs based on individual academic standing. We assist students with issues they may be having in the classroom and collaborate with teachers and administrators to ensure academic achievement Career: We provide academic preparations for future courses or post-secondary success. Assist students with exploration of career options and college application/scholarship process. Personal/Social: We provide individual or group counseling to address students issues, dilemmas or situations that require further assistance. We also work with students on enhancing their decision making and goalsetting skills. Community: We provide community referrals to students and families in need of services.

HOW DO I SEE THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR?

Students can visit the Counseling Office at any time during school hours. School Counseling office is located on the first floor across from the main office. If there are not any counselors available, check in with the secretary for an appointment
