Daybook Reflection: What is academic writing?

During the beginning of the semester, there was a time where I had to understand where the class was going, and what was going to be taught to gauge the interest in my class. This daybook entry was one of the very first entries I have to record in the class, and in my opinion was one of the worst entries I have done. Worst not in terms of performance but in terms of interest while doing the daybook entry. Academic writing isnt an enticing title to capture my interest and it honestly made me feel as if the class would feel like an English class I have been in throughout the course of my education. On top of that, we had to read a lengthy passage about academic writing and answer questions, But this isnt the reason why included this in my portfolio. Despite the initial turn-off of the subject, the daybook entry was able to challenge my thinking. The questions being asked about the passage were well designed to enable me to understand what academic writing actually which I admit, helped my understanding during the course of the semester. It helped me understand the writing situations in which to write in while participating during different assignments. To my surprise, most of the writing done in this was not academic writing.
