I hope to see Harvey Hubbell when he comes to Florida :) This movie is one of my favorites of the moment. Super amazing and informative! I think it's important that teachers and parents see this, because it really does bring up a lot of ideas about how we can improve our education system. As it's National Dyslexia Awareness month, I thought I'd let you all know about a movie that's coming to theaters in St. Louis and Kansas City tomorrow, Oct. 17th! It's called Dislecksia: The Movie. It's a documentary about the struggles of living with a learning difference like dyslexia and what we can do to best help kids who are having trouble. I learned so much from watching this. For instance, I didn't know that actor Billy Bob Thornton was dyslexic, or that Albert Einstein was! The director, Harvey Hubbell, set out to make a film that explores the ins and outs of dyslexia through humor, research, and personal stories. You can definitely tell that this film is close to his heart. There's a lot of great information and ideas as to how we can best adapt our classroom environments to cater to kids with this learning difference. I think it's a great movie for parents and teachers alike to go see. It really does a great job of spreading awareness about dyslexia as a learning difference and suggesting solutions to helping children with it continue to learn and grow. It definitely resonated with me and left me feeling a little teary eyed. No child should feel left behind or frustrated because they don't 'get' schoolwork as easily as others! Loved this movie.

If you can make it out to the AMC BarryWoods tomorrow night on Oct. 17th, you should see Dislecksia: The Movie! Parents and teachers especially, this is a really awesome one to see. I enjoyed it because it was educational as well as entertaining and funny. Dyslexia is more common than I'd even imagined. I had no idea that famous people like Einstein, Billy Bob Thornton, and Orlando Bloom were dyslexic. The film talks about these and other facts as well. But where it really excels is when it talks about what we can do to change our educational system to best cater to children with learning differences so that they can progress through school without feeling badly or left behind. It's called Dislecksia; The Movie and it does such an amazing job of exploring the implications of living with dyslexia and how we can help kids who are struggling with it.
