Minutes

- 12:00 - Meet and Greet, retire to luncheon.

- 12:15 - Meeting begins.

- 12:20 - Mr. Chartier reviews recent efforts at promoting green building legislation in
Louisiana.

- 12:35 - Ms. Richards reviews avenues for promoting green building in other
municipalities, noting the city of Alexandria’s recent ordinances for LEED-approved
municipal construction. Ms. Stone updates on efforts of Global Green to pass green
building legislation at the state level during the previous legislative session.

- 12:45 - Strategy session. Group outlines strategies for pursuing three different goals
during the course of 2008-2009:

o Green Building Bill at State Level

 Communicate with industry and Facilities Planning and Control to


ensure their satisfaction with the Bill’s language

• Mr. Chartier will attempt to set up a meeting with FPC to


determine what measures can be included to assure their
support.

 Ensure that the Bill’s process for Green Globe certification will
include participation by an independently trained assessor.

o City of Alexandria

 Research details of legislation, supporters and proponents.


 Research timeline and implementation strategies.

 Extend our support, attempt to involve Brian Bailey and Greg Coates
(USGBC North La.).

o City of New Orleans Green Building Bill

 Pursue LEED for Schools ordinance.

 Work towards developing LEED for Schools into a comprehensive bill


for all municipal buildings.

• Ms. Stone will contact Shelly Midura’s office to inquire as to


how a school ordinance may be expanded to include all
municipal buildings.

• Mr. Whiting will research successful precedent municipalities.
