Teaching Experience
SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER | FOUR OAKS COMMUNITY CHURCH | FALL 2011-PRESENT As a third grade Sunday School Teacher at Four Oaks Community Church in Tallahassee, I was responsible for creating lesson plans and conducting class for one hour once a week on rotation with two other teachers. When I was not leading a lesson I would be leading small group discussions and activity time. I would also escort students to and from worship service. I would check students in and out of class at the beginning and end of class. I would also update the parents on what had happened while their students were in class on an online portal. MENTOR | FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY YOUTH PROGRAMS | FALL 2012-SPRING 2013 As a mentor with the Florida State University Youth Programs I was paired with a student at Pace Secondary School, an alternative secondary school in Tallahassee. I was paired with a middle school student in an English Language Arts classroom. I would work individually with the student, helping them complete classwork as well as reading out loud to them during assigned class readings, as well as having the student read out loud to me. During free time I would also get to know the student through activities, games, and sports. I would also work with other students when the need arose. VOLUNTEER | HEAD START PROGRAM, BITHLO CENTER | JANUARY 2011-JUNE 2011 As a volunteer at the local Head Start, I had many responsibilities, namely accompanying the children while they played and helping out the teachers during small group activities like handing out papers and assisting the children. I would help the children get ready for lunch and participate in their story time. I would also work individually with the children, helping them practice their alphabet and colors and documenting what they knew.
