Information Communication and Technology GLO: (F3) Students will demonstrate a moral and ethical approach to the use of technology. Objectives: Students will craft rules for online etiquette to demonstrate an understanding of appropraite online behavior Students will use appropriate communication etiquette and language.
ASSESSMENTS
Observations: Observe students discussing rules about online etiquette. Observe students writing rules about online etiquette. Hear students contributions to whole-class rules about online etiquette. Hear students explain why a certain rule should exist. Read students responses to their classmates writing using the Two Stars and A Wsh format. Read students responses to see if they have followed the established classroom online etiquette rules. What is appropriate online language? What are the main rules that students must follow when they are communicating online? Students will create and share rules for online etiquette. Students will provide typed feedback to their partner in the form of a reply to the original post. This feedback will reflect the online etiquette rules and follow the Two Stars and A Wish format.

Contribute to class and small group discussion. Follow directions: only interact with laptops when instructed to do so. Respect partners. Respect technology. By the end of todays lesson you will be able to: 30 seconds 1. Write online posts with proper etiquette and appropriate language But, what is proper etiquette for being online? Our class will decide that as a team in the 30 seconds next activities. Body Time Learning Activity #1 Creating Rules in Pairs or Threes The teacher will have organized the class into pairs or groups of three (depending on whether there is an even number or not) by combining two decks of cards and giving each student a card. The students who have the same cards from different decks. If there is an odd number, give a cooperative student a joker card and allow that student to choose which group he/she wishes to join. 7 min When students have seated with their partners, they are to brainstorm at least three rules for writing online posts. Guide their thinking by suggesting they consider the video they just watched, and the importance of complete sentences. They will have five minutes to do this.

The teacher may call on specific groups who have not contributed voluntarily. As you go 10 min along, ask students if they agree with other groups rules. When students are satisfied with the list, print and photocopy this list for every student. Hear students contributions to whole-class rules about online etiquette. Hear students explain why a certain rule should exist. Learning Activity #3 Students Respond with 2 Stars and A Wish Tell students that in one minute, they will have a chance to practice online etiquette. Show students how to respond to their partners post by listing directions on the SMART Board. Explain the 2 Stars and A Wish format. Allow students to start, reminding them that they have 10 minutes to complete this activity.

What went well? What The students were able to easily identify the dangers of communicating through changes would you online/phone text and translate these into rules. The video was simple and make in your planning? What have relevant for their age group (9-11 yr olds) since many of them are just you learned to improve beginning to use cell phones and social media. I need to remember that lessons upon future that take place at the beginning of the day are always shorter because instruction? attendance and other housekeeping items need to be taken care of. I ran out of
time during this lesson to teach the 2-Stars and A Wish feedback format, and this gap in learning was reflected in the students responses, which were merely complimentary. I will teach this format and ask the students to resubmit another comment. However, most students wrote in complete sentences and all were willing to comment on their partners original post, no matter who their partner was.
