Each group will have 5 minutes to discuss physical and musical ideas they think relate to the piece of art 2. Following group discussion, students will be asked to create their interpretation of what their piece of art is supposed to sound like. 3. Students experiment by creating sounds on their given instrument a. The purpose is to get students to create a picture in the minds as they allow the sounds to draw each point. b. This puts a light on individual interpretation of sound and image 4. Once each group has had 10-15 minutes to play we will have them perform for the class. They will explain what they see and hear in the picture and how they translated it to have sound 5. After each group has presented they will go back into their groups and be asked to focus on three main ideas for the remainder of class a. Melodic Theme b. Rhythmic Ideas c. Harmonic Structure Next Class: Each group will talk about how they were able to focus on the musical objectives assigned As a class, we will talk about how we came to make the musical decisions we did.
