Lake Tahoe Unified School District 1021 Al Tahoe Blvd.

South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150 (530) 541-2850 To Whom It May Concern: Hello, my name is Allyssa Little and this is the cover letter for the application for my dream job. When I was in the seventh grade, I realized my dream to follow in my grandfathers footsteps and teach music in my hometown. At that point, it was just a dream. As I approached adulthood, it became a goal; a goal that I have dedicated myself to, taking the appropriate steps in accomplishing the tasks necessary to achieve. After graduating from South Tahoe High School in June 2007, I took what I had learned growing up in our amazing music program and a love for music to California State University, Chico in Chico, CA. With each passing semester and music education course completed, my confidence in myself grew and I knew that I was on the right path. Throughout my education, I had many amazing educators who set a great example to emulate. Those professors, including Linda Kurek and JJ Clause, made an amazing positive impact on my life. I would be honored and almost feel obligated to carry on the tradition of teaching great music in our town. Both of those teachers demonstrated the ability to teach intelligently, with compassion and enthusiasm. I believe I have the tools for this music program to continue to thrive. I am currently attending Sierra Nevada College in pursuit of a Masters in the Arts of Teaching. I have two teaching credentials pending: K-8 Multiple Subject Credential and Single Subject Credential Secondary Music. I received my Bachelors degree in Music with an option in Music Education from California State University Chico in May 2011. Annually, I attend the California All-state Music Education Conference in Fresno, CA; I am constantly seeking opportunities to improve myself and my abilities to better serve the community that I grew up in and love. The last three years have been amazing. I have had the opportunity to work with the wonderful people found throughout Lake Tahoe Unified School District as a Substitute Teacher, including a long-term substitute position in Special Education. I was a student teacher at Tahoe Valley Elementary in Kindergarten and at South Tahoe High School in music. Through this experience, a deeper passion for positively impacting young lives emerged within me. I love music and all the joy it has brought me, but this passion for making a positive impact is the driving force behind my pursuit of this career. If given the opportunity, I will attack every day with exuberance and enthusiasm. I will rely on my extensive education, I will embrace technology and most importantly, I will be entirely focused on benefitting the students. Thank you, Allyssa Little (530)318-0564
