ReflectionEssential Knowledge- In group 3 the first group discussion was about multi-cultural education and why it is important. It is important because all students need a chance to succeed and have equal opportunities in the classroom. It is also important to incorporate each culture in the classroom through class discussions, projects, homework and bringing in the community through their projects. Critical Dispositions- This discussion shows my understanding of the diverse cultures that will be in the classroom and that all cultures and individuals can achieve high standards in schools. Each kid has their own unique talents and abilities to perform at their own level and succeed equally well by giving each kid a chance to participate in class.

I prefer teaching children who share similar backgrounds because I dont have to worry about possibly offending anyone by not involving any cultures or maybe referring to any stereotypes that may insult someone.

I prefer teaching children with different backgrounds because I can incorporate many cultures and introduce children with a diverse curriculum which will create a community within the classroom.

The biggest challenge in a multicultural class is to make sure to involve everybody, have an understanding of every culture to not exclude anyone, and make sure my curriculum fits every student.

Most classes are not multicultural because a lot of people who are from another culture do not want to go to school for fear of being rejected and or taunted. A lot of political and social media involving different cultures are preventing children from being open about their own culture.

Multicultural education is really important if all my students are from one ethnic/racial background because it will open their minds to other people and the world. Multicultural education will bring perspective about history from other cultures which provides in depth thinking for children, which will allow children to be more open to new things and people over time.
