All Week Infant Activity: Exploring cooking scents Moisten cotton balls with a scent, and place cotton

balls into bug box for our infants to smell. Because of the nature of this activity, it will not be out in the classroom, but on the planning shelf for teachers to utilize when theres the opportunity for one-on-one interactions with our infants There are 3 bug boxes on the planning shelf. Each is labeled lemon, vinegar, or cinnamon. There are also cotton balls in each bug box, and extra cotton balls on the planning shelf o Please use new cotton balls each time! The cinnamon and vinegar are located on the planning shelf, and the lemon juice is in the fridge. Mix cinnamon with water and then apply to cotton ball Monday Menu Edit: 2pm Snack As an art activity, the children will be making fruit kabobs during snack time Instructions: Cut melon and strawberries into small pieces, but large enough to skewer onto the coffee stirrer straws. Place melon, strawberries, and coffee stirrer straws onto childrens plates Encourage children to place the fruit onto their straws (You may want to make extra adult servings and demonstrate) Discovery Table: Water Place measuring implements in the water for children to measure, scoop, and pour Please replace the water each morning and afternoon Please use warm water Please utilize water smocks and mess mats! Dramatic Play: Ice Cream Parlor The Ice Cream Parlor dramatic play kit will be out in the classroom for the children to explore, utilize, and play with. Art AM: Painting red foods Set up: two paint cups, each filled with red paint Paintbrushes Paper Scissors Mess mat Smocks

Directions: Encourage the children to paint the foods they eat that are red. (They have exposure to strawberries, raspberries, tomatoes, and apples in our classroom.) Have the scissors out so that they can cut out their food before or after they paint if they so choose. Tuesday Menu Edit: Baking Biscuits (4pm Snack) As each child wakes up from their nap, they will each mix the dough for their own biscuit. These will then be baked as a part of their 2pm snack Ingredients: flour (1/4 C + extra for kneading) Baking powder (1/4 t.) Salt (1 pinch) Honey (1/2 t) Shortening (1 t) Milk (1 2/3 T) Oil or baking spray for baking sheet Materials: measuring spoons (1/4 t, t, 1 t, 1 T, 2/3 T) Measuring cup (1/4 cup) Baking sheet Wax paper Paper and pencil to mark where each childs biscuit will be Bowl for mixing Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes Discovery Table: Water Place spoons and funnels in the water for children to utilize Please replace the water each morning and afternoon Please use warm water Please utilize water smocks and mess mats! Friday Menu Edit: Baking Bread (lunch) Well be baking bread in a bread machine in the classroom all morning o Ill come in to mix ingredients and start machine Instead of having a hummus sandwich, well be giving them a slice of bread from the bread machine and simply putting the humus on their plates Menu Edit 2: vanilla wafer cookies (2pm snack) Well be having vanilla wafer cookies instead of cereal Discovery Table: Oats Oats, slotted spoons, and containers will be placed in the discovery table Dramatic Play: Grocery Store Art AM: painting brown food Set up: two paint cups, each filled with brown paint Paintbrushes Paper Scissors Mess mat Smocks Directions: Encourage the children to paint the foods they eat that are brown. (They have exposure to bread, tortillas, crackers, etc. in our classroom.) Have the scissors out so that they can cut out their food before or after they paint if they so choose.
