R-5. Explain an education topic that is currently in the spotlight.

An education topic that is currently in the spotlight is our countys education ranking compared to other countries. The ranking are based off information attained from about 80% of the nations in the world. Causes for are rankings range from cultural influence to funding influence. According to numerous news reports, this is not a good thing. Articles are suggesting that education is a competition between nations and in order to win, our students need to perform better on tests. These tests are administered every three years and for the most part the US ranks in the middle or a little above the average. As big of a problem news sources are making this out to be, I found little researched data that major concern or panic is to be had. One person did something I can agree upon though

We must invest in early education, raise academic standards, make college affordable, and do more to recruit and retain top-notch educators.
