Darryl Plummer Post Lesson Reflection (6-7 November 2013) 1. To what extent were lesson objectives achieved?

(Utilize assessment data to justify your level of achievement) Daily Objectives: Students will be able to (SWBAT) Identify institutions of the EU Explain the function and structure of EU institutions Explain how they are similar or different from US institutions Define the origin and goals of the EU Articulate the benefits and downsides of EU membership

Based on quiz scores (all had As) and in class checks for understanding, all students achieved objectives

2. What changes, omissions, or additions to the lesson would you make if you were to teach again? Despite the fact that the lesson was primarily a power point, students were highly engaged. They had told me previously that they were very interested in the EU and it proved to be true. I actually had to stop answering good questions because we would have been on the EU for a week otherwise. One thing I would definitely continue to do next time is present it sort of like a conversation and use the slides more as discussion prompts rather than lecture notes. That seemed to work really well and students responded positively. 3. What do you envision for the next lesson? (continued practice, reteach content, etc) I definitely wont be doing notes. I think even though students were into the EU, they will tire of looking at a projector, especially on a Friday. Im going to move on to separatism (EU being the unifying factor, nationalism being the dis-unifying factor).
