Do you think that it is important for teachers to know and teach according to state and national standards for the level that they teach? Why or why not?

- I think it is very important for standards to be in place and to be implemented in classrooms. I believe this because it helps hold teachers accountable to what the students need to be learning in each grade level. It helps ensure that each child, no matter the school, will have to cover the same basics. I like this because it is trying to prevent some children from being left behind because of a teacher who may not have pushed to cover as much information as they should have. This way everyone knows what is expected of them and can act accordingly.
