Wolf Mammals Mammals are animals that are warm blooded and most of them have hair. They give birth to their young naturally and nourish their young with milk, (that includes humans to). Cheetahs, bats, and wolves are mammals. Cheetahs are from the cat family, Bats are like birds but bats are mammals, Wolves are from the dog family. Cheetahs, bats, and wolves are majestic, they may become endangered. Cheetahs live in Africa and Asia. They like savanna habitat and the cheetahs coat provides camouflage for this day time hunter. The tail helps balance the cheetahs body as its twist and turn at high speeds. Theyre eyes are able to spot prey and follow with pin point precision. The shoulder blades are on its side to allow greater freedom of the fore legs when stretching full pace. The spine arches and springs back like a bow, allowing the cheetah to make giant strides. The cheetah looks like a giant cat with tan fur, with black spots and lines. The cheetah life span is 10 to 12 years in the wild. It is the fastest land animal on earth and can reach speeds up to 70 mph. only can run for 10 to 20 seconds (scholastic encyclopedia of animals, 21). They have acute senses of hearing and sight. Have sharp teeth and claws, excellent hunters. Each cat hunts according to its size, strength, speed, and stamina. Today there are 10,000 cheetahs still alive in the wild. Theyre two different types of Bats, Megabats and Microbats. Megabats: eat fruit and often called fruit bats. Microbats: eat insects. They sleep during the day by hanging upside down.

Echolocation enables the ears of a bat to detect sound from any direction. The hind foot has five toes with sharp claws, the tail act like a brake. Bats have 38 long, sharp canines. The patogium stretches over the forearm. A single brown bat can catch 1,200 mosquito size insects in one hour. Fewer than ten people in the last 50 years have contracted rabies from the North America bats. Bats use echolocation to get around in the dark. Bats make up a quarter of all mammals, and there are 1,000 spices of bats in the world. Bats only have one pup a year (13 incredible bat facts, 1-2). Bats hang upside down to put them in position to take off. They cant take off from the ground. Their wings cannot produce enough lift. Their legs are so small they cant run to produce enough lift. They use their front claws to climb to a high spot and fall into flight. By sleeping upside down, and they are all set to escape the roast if necessary. Vampire bats can pass rabies from host to host. They are only found in south and Central America minimal risk of dying from a vampire bats bite. Most bat species are harmless to humans. The Mexican free tail bat can eat two tons of insects a night. The bumble-bee bat is the smallest bat, with the wing span of six inches. The Malayan flying fox bat is the largest bat, with a wing span of six feet. The German meaning of bat is flying mice. Most bat species spend days in dark caves. And are only are active at night. They developed adaptations that let them find their way in complete darkness. Only a few species suck blood. Bats are divided into two suborders. Bat guano is used in power full plant fertilizers, explosives in the past. Bat guano is used in cleaning agents, and laundry detergent. In the age of dinosaurs scientist believe bats evolved from a non-flying mammal. That mostly lived in trees. But adapted to this life style to avoid the fierce flying predators that are active in the day time. And to take advantage of the abundance of insect species that are active at night. Today most bat species developed echolocation (how bats work, 1-5).

Wolves live in packs and they live in tundra, woodlands, and forests. And grasslands and deserts. Most packs have four to nine members (wolves, 1). Are well designed for hunting. They have an excellent sense for tracking prey. And strong legs for running. And sharp teeth for biting. They know where they stand in the pack (animals visual encyclopedia, 70-71). A wolfs nose is 14 times larger than humans. A wolfs crushing power is twice as a German shepherd. Has a hearing 20 times shaper than a humans. Wolfs can hear 9.9 miles away. A wolves coat repels moisture. A wolfs body is three to five feet long. The tail is one to two feet long. The males weigh 70-145 pounds. Females weigh 60-100 pounds. Northern wolves are usually bigger than southern wolfs. Wolves look like a giant wild dog. Wolfs are meat eaters, they travel dozens of miles in a day hunting deer. Howling is a way of defending its territory. They mark their territory on their boarders. Wolf howl to attract the attention of his pack. Wolves are the largest members of the dog family. But wolves and humans have a long adversarial history. And considered one of the animal world most fearsome natural villains. They do attack domestic animals, and countless wolves have been shot trapped and poison because of this tendency. In the wild they live 8 to 13 years. Wolves In captivity today live up to 15 years old (in human years). Theses majestic animals can become endangered and exscinded. So cheetahs, bats, and wolves need to be left alone and protected. Cheetahs are the fastest land animal. Bats are the only flying mammal. Wolves are the ancestors of dogs. So help they survive in this world.
