Teacher Work Sample 4: Assessment Plan Lesson Objective/Lesson Overview:

By the end of this lesson, students will have obtained information related to Napoleon Bonapartes empire and the Napoleonic Wars, how these events affected Europe, utilize this information to analyze a primary source, and answer five quiz questions using the knowledge they have gained.

First, the pre-assessment takes from this objective by having the students answer several questions regarding the information they already have. Students will be asked to predict upcoming events based upon what they know of Napoleon, other empires of this time, and the outcomes of those events. Secondly, during the lesson, students will undergo another assessment, but this time it will be through the use of a primary source which the students will analyze. The source depicts Napoleon Bonaparte and his Russian enemies. This information will have been covered during the lecture, but it is up to the students to apply this new knowledge in a way that formulates a coherent and plausible explanation for what they see on the primary source. Lastly, using all of the information the students were able to obtain, the students will take a quiz based on the lesson. This quiz will cover several areas of the lecture and not focus on one section in particular. This will be done to ensure students understand the need to take notes on the entirety of any lesson.
