Business Friendliness Index

Why India is ranked 134?

The ease of doing business index is an index created by the World Bank. Higher rankings indicate better, usually simpler, regulations for businesses and stronger protections of property rights. Empirical research funded by the World Bank to justify their work show that the effect of improving these regulations on economic growth is strong. In its pursuit to reach the status of a developed nation we have not been able to leverage all the advantages that we have, the largest fully functional democracy, favorable demographics, a rising middle class, a large English speaking population ready to take on the world. Have we lost our way, do we need more time or is it that we just dont have it in us to be a developed nation? So the question here is all the symptoms of low business investment, poverty, corruption and discrimination and a BBB rating to our debt are greatly affecting our image as a business friendly nation. So what is the reason for all of these symptoms, what is the root cause for this and what needs to be done in improve the image and business sentiment.
