Pursuant to the constitution of Kenya 2010 (Articles 185(2) (186 (1) and 187 (2) on distribution of functions between the National Government and the County Governments) and the County Governments Act No.17 of 2012:- the County Government of Kirinyaga invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions:

MEDICAL OFFICERS 25 posts (job group `M, N & P) The medical officer will be responsible to the Medical Superintendent/Medical Officer in-charge of the hospital in a County or Sub-County. Duties and Responsibilities The specific duties will be oversee service delivery in the following areas, among others: Clinical management of patients Conduct ward rounds Supervise and develop junior staff Perform administrative duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Requirements Be a Kenyan citizen Have a bachelor of medicine and Bachelor of surgery. Be registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board. Satisfy the requirements of chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya. Demonstrate a good understanding of the county government`s mandate, health policies, vision, mission as well as vision 2030 Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of public service governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010, Article 10 and 232. Terms: Permanent Pharmaceutical Technologist III - 3 Posts (job Group `H) The Pharmaceutical Technologist III will work under guidance of a Senior Officer. Duties and Responsibilities The specific duties will be to oversee service delivery in the following areas, among others: 1. Filling and dispensing drugs and medical supplies. 2. Ensure Pharmaceutical Standard Operating Procedures are adhered to. 3. Preparing and submitting relevant pharmaceutical reports. 4. Ensure rational use of drugs and medical supplies is strictly adhered to. Requirements Be a Kenyan Citizen. Be in possession of a diploma in pharmaceutical technology from a recognized institution. Have a valid enrolment certificate from the pharmacy and poisons board. S/he should be registered with the Kenya pharmaceutical Association. At least 2 years post-qualification work experience. Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of 2010, Article 10 and 232. Terms: Permanent SENIOR ASSISTANT CHIEF CLINICAL OFFICER -1 posts (JG N) The officer will normally work under the guidance of either the Medical Superintendent or the County Director of Health. Duties and responsibilities The specific and responsibilities Training and supervision of Clinical Officers interns Conducting Research of Clinical Services May be appointed as a head of Referral Hospital or as a County Clinical Officer Attending to emergency cases in the High Dependent units and intensive care units Attending to resuscitation of critical emergency cases Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time Requirements Be a Kenyan citizen Be a holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent Be holder of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized medical training college Be registered by the Clinical Officers Council Must have served for at least 3 years in the grade of Senior Clinical Officer Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 and 232. SENIOR CLINICAL OFFICER -15 posts (JG L) The officer will normally work under the guidance of Senior Officer. Duties and responsibilities The specific and responsibilities Attending to emergency cases in the High Dependent units and intensive care units Attending to resuscitation of critical emergency cases Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time Training and supervision of Clinical Officers interns May be deployed as an In-charge in a Department or a Health Facility Requirements Be a Kenyan citizen Be a holder of Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent Be holder of a Diploma in Clinical Medicine from a recognized medical training college Be registered by the Clinical Officers Council Must have served for at least 3 years in the grade of Clinical Officer I Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 and 232. Procession of a Higher Diploma in any of the disciplines in clinical Medicine will be an added advantage Clinical Officer I -2 posts (JG K) The officer will normally work under the guidance of a Senior Clinical Officer. Procession of a Higher Diploma in any of the disciplines in clinical Medicine will be an added advantage CLINICAL OFFICER III - 31 POSTS (JOB GROUP`H) The clinical officer will work under the guidance of a senior Officer Duties and Responsibilities The specific duties will include the following among others: Seeing and examining patients Diagnosing and treating ailments at an outpatient department in a hospital or Health Centre Assist in planning and conducting primary health care activities Coaching students attached to hospitals and medical centres Supervising and counseling staff engaged on routine patient care Giving support and health education to patients Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Requirements Be a Kenyan citizen Be a holder of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or its equivalent. Be a holder of Diploma in Clinical Medicine from recognized Medical training college Be registered by the Clinical Officers Council Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 and 232. Terms Permanent Nursing Officer 1- 244 posts (JG K) Nursing Officer 1 will work under the guidance of a Senior Nursing Officer. Work at this level will largely involve management of Nursing Services in a Health Unit at a County or Sub County Health facility. Duties and responsibilities Specific duties will include the following among others Planning supervising and coordinating of duties Distribution of staff to various sections Providing bedside nursing care to patients Practical training, counseling and guidance of nursing students in clinical areas Page 4 of 11

Performing administrative duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Requirements Be a Kenyan Citizen Be a holder of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with mean grade C+ and above or equivalent. Be a holder of a BSC Nursing from a recognized university or have served as Nursing Officer II for at least 3 years. Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya Shown professional competence in planning organizing and discharging nursing duties at that level. Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 and 232. Terms: Permanent Nursing Officer III 160 posts (JG H) Nursing officer III will work under the guidance of a more senior officer. Work at this level will largely involve planning, supervision and provision of nursing care at an outpatient department or ward in a health facility Duties and responsibilities Specific duties will include the following among others Assessing of patients need for nursing services Verifying and maintaining information relating to patients admissions Keeping records of drugs and supplies Guiding supervising and counseling staff performing routine duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to times. Be a holder of a Kenya Registered Nurse or Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse Diploma from a recognized medical training college Be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of Public Service Governance as espoused in the constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 - 232. Terms: Permanent Kenya Enrolled/Community Health Nurse I - 40 Posts (JG J) KEN/KECHN I will work under the guidance of a more senior officer. Work at this level will largely involve planning, supervision and provision of nursing care at an outpatient department or ward in a health facility Duties and responsibilities Specific duties will include the following among others Assessing of patients need for nursing services Page 5 of 11

Verifying and maintaining information relating to patients admissions Keeping records of drugs and supplies Guiding supervising and counseling staff performing routine duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to times.

Requirements Be a Kenyan Citizen Holder of KCSE mean grade C- and above or equivalent Holder of certificate from a recognized training Institute or has worked in the post of KEN/KECHN II for a period of 3 years Be enrolled with the Nursing Council of Kenya. Have a practicing license. Kenya Enrolled/Community Health Nurse III 45 Posts (JG G) KEN/KECHN III will work under the guidance of a more senior officer. Work at this level will largely involve planning, supervision and provision of nursing care at an outpatient department or ward in a health facility

Duties and responsibilities Specific duties will include the following among others Assessing of patients need for nursing services Verifying and maintaining information relating to patients admissions Keeping records of drugs and supplies Guiding supervising and counseling staff performing routine duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to times. Requirements Be a Kenyan Citizen Holder of KCSE mean grade C- and above or equivalent Holder of certificate from a recognized training Institute Be enrolled with the Nursing Council of Kenya. Have a practicing license. Medical Laboratory Technologist III 21 posts (Job group H) Duties and responsibilities The work at this level will be carried out under the guidance of a senior officer. Specific duties will include the following among others. Offering general diagnostic or other laboratory services in a medical laboratory Offering blood transfusion services Diagnosis of vector borne diseases Supervision and development of junior staff Performing administrative duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Be registered by the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologist Board Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principles of public service governance as espoused in the constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 and 232 Terms: Permanent Nutrition Officer III 8 POSTS (Job Group H) Nutrition Officer III will work under the guidance of a senior Officer. Duties and responsibilities Planning, implementing , monitoring and evaluating specific nutrition therapeutic diets for patients Supervising staff working under this position Conducting outreach services Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time. Requirements Should be a Kenyan Citizen Be a holder of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade C or equivalent Be a holder of Bachelors or a Diploma in Nutrition from a recognized medical training college Should be registered with KNDI ( Kenya Nutrition and Dietician Institute) Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to the national values and principle of public service governance as espoused in the Constitution of Kenya 2010 Articles 10 and 232. One who has volunteered has an added advantage Terms: Permanent Health Records Information Officer III 3 posts (Job Group H) The HRIO III will work under the guidance of a senior officer. Duties and responsibilities Specific duties will include the following among others Maintaining correct, accurate and complete facility records while observing confidentially. Providing monitoring and Evaluation and data collection tools to medical facilities. Registration of HIV positive clients for comprehensive care services, and Conducting regular site visits. Terms: permanent Radiographer III posts 3 (Jobs Group `H) The Radiographer III will work under the guidance of a Senior Officer Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties will include the following, among others: Providing radiographic services to patients Processing, verifying and maintaining information relating to patients. Ordering and maintaining records of radiographic and photographic supplies requirements Supervising of staff. Performing administrative duties Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
