INTRODUCTION
ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK FOR TEACHER EDUCATION (NCFTE)-2009, NCTE-NEW DELHI, INDIA. "THERE IS AN INCREASING VIOLENCE AND POLARIZATION, BOTH WITHIN CHILDREN AND BETWEEN THEM, BEING CAUSED PRIMARILY BY INCREASING STRESS IN SOCIETY. EDUCATION HAS A CRUCIAL ROLE TO PLAY IN PROMOTING VALUES OF PEACE BASED ON EQUAL RESPECT OF SELF AND OTHERS. THE NCF AND SUBSEQUENT DEVELOPMENT OF SYLLABI AND MATERIAL PROVIDE A DIRECTION IN THIS REGARD. FOR THIS, TEACHERS NEED TO BE EQUIPPED TO UNDERSTAND THESE ISSUES AND INCORPORATE THEM IN THEIR TEACHING. THE NEW TEACHER EDUCATION CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK WILL NEED TO INTEGRATE THESE PERSPECTIVES IN ITS FORMULATION. EDUCATION FOR PEACE IS THE PROCESS OF ACQUIRING THE VALUES, THE KNOWLEDGE AND DEVELOPING THE ATTITUDES, SKILLS, AND BEHAVIORS TO LIVE IN HARMONY WITH ONESELF, WITH OTHERS, AND WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT.

WE HAVE TO DEVELOP ALL THESE WITH THE TRAINING TO STUDENT TEACHERS TO TRANSFORM THE SOCIETY THROUGH THIS TYPE OF EDUCATION.

ICT IS AN UMBRELLA TERM THAT INCLUDES ANY COMMUNICATION DEVICE OR APPLICATION, ENCOMPASSING; RADIO, TELEVISION, CELLULAR, PHONES, COMPUTER AND NETWORK (INTERNET ETC.)HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE, SATELLITE SYSTEMS AND SO ON, AS WELL AS THE VARIOUS SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH THEM, SUCH AS VIDEO-CONFERENCING AND DISTANCE LEARNING.

OBJECTIVES (SHORT-TERM)

TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING ABOUT EDUCATION FOR PEACE IN TEACHEREDUCATORS AND STUDENT-TEACHERS. TO DEVELOP UNDERSTANDING OF STUDENT-TEACHERS ON EDUCATION FOR PEACE WITH THE USE OF ICT AND CLASS ROOM PRACTICES. THE STUDENT-TEACHERS WILL BE ABLE TO DISPLAY ACTIVITIES ON EDUCATION FOR PEACE.
