Traditional Assessment - Evidence of Student Mastery In a low tech more traditional setting, how would you know if your students met the objectives you set? Students would be able to draw the characters, setting, and what the main event is (using the key details in their drawings) out on paper using crayons, glue, markers, etc. Their drawings would have the same details from what was read in the book.

Describe Your Vision for your Revamped Assessment - Evidence of Student Mastery In a modern setting, how would you know if your students met the objectives you set? Which technology tool will you use? How will you incorporate the technology? How/where will you weave the important 21st century skills that we identified (leadership, practical life skills, adaptability, interpersonal, global brokerage, well roundedness, communication, critical thinking)? In a modern setting, I would know that my students met the objectives I set, because their drawings would indicate if they understood the main points from the story. Their drawings will represent the details that were described in the story, such as main characters, setting, and major events. The technological tool I would incorporate for this assessment would be Kerpoof. Students will be able to work in partners and will be able to create their drawings on the computer. The 21st century skills like practical life skills, interpersonal/collaboration, and communication will be evaluated in this assessment, since the students will be working with others. They will have to communicate and collaborate their ideas on what they want to draw on Kerpoof. The details for this assignment are very important, so the students will have to work together and talk about what the story was about and what they remember from it. They will also use critical thinking skills to apply what they read in the story to paper (Kerpoof).

What Do You See as the Benefits and Possible Pitfalls of Your New Modern Assessment? Benefits: Using a new tool (Kerpoof) will make the assignment more exciting and fun for the students. Students can use their creative skills on the computer. Students will get to work together in creating their drawing together. Students will get to work on their social skills. Students will get to practice their computer skills. Possible Pitfalls: Computers could not be working properly. The site could be down or glitching. May be more difficult and time consuming to use rather then just using paper and markers.
