Dear Durham Region and GTA,

Re: ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT MINISTRIES FOOD BASKET

Our organization will be holding a clothing and a food drive beginning August
15th, through October 15th, 2009 to help support the programs of the Food Bank
of Durham Region, and the GTA. This is an excellent chance to make a
difference in the lives of many as well as making a significant impact on our
community. I encourage you to join this effort to help our less fortunate
neighbors.

The food and funds we raise will help in Durham Region and the GTA to supply
food to the over 240 partner agencies in our community. These agencies consist
of organizations such as food pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, churches,
and other non profit organizations that are working to fight hunger in our
community. Women and Men, as well as youth shelters across Durham Region
and GTA any surplus will be given to the street people and homeless as these
individuals have very little or nothing to speak of and I know they certainly
appreciate a helping hand and a little kindness when they have the opportunity to
receive it.

Following are some shocking fact about hunger in Durham Region, and the GTA:
 65,000 people live below the official poverty level in Durham Region, and
the GTA
(a family of 4 brings home less then $20,650 per year)
 Hunger does not discriminate in fact it effects the most vulnerable is our
society
• 31% of those served by the Food Bank are under 18
• 5% of those served by the Food Bank are under 5
• 8% of those served by the Food Bank are elderly
 41% of households have at least one working adult
 36% of households have at least one member in poor health
Here are ways we can help:

 Donate non perishable food to the Food Bank during our drive. Boxes
are located {106-1990 Whites Road, Pickering, Ontario L1V 6P5
location of boxes} There will be other places and they will be posted as
soon as possible.

On behalf of those in need as well as the entire Food Bank Staff, I thank you for
your participation in this food drive. Together we can make a difference.
