Preschool Schedule Arrival 7-7:15 This seems like a long time for the children who have arrived

earlier to wait to do anything. Free Choice Areas 7:15-8:00 Transition 8-8:05. 5 min before this warn the children that they have 5 min. Depending on the class size this would be a lot of time. I might also stick a transition song about washing my hands before the children start to wash their hands. Breakfast and Clean up 8:05-8:30am No child I know at any age will sit for a meal that is more than 30 min. When the children were done eating and cleaning up, possibly using the bathroom they would sit on the circle time rug and chat about what they have been up to since we were last together. Group time 8:25-8:40 Children have short attention spans. According the power point you should keep circle time short. First Center Transition 8:40-8:45 Children would be asked to choose a center by either the teacher saying those warring red today walk to a center, and so on until all of the children have chosen a center. First learning center 8:45-9:30 5 min. Warning 9:25 Clean up 9:30-9:35 Second Learning center 9:35-10:25 Clean up 10:25-10:30 Transition to Outside time 10:30-10:35 Outside time/ outside centers 10:35-11:15Kids need more than 15 min to explore outside. Children need to have proper amount of time to appreciate nature. The school I would want to work at would have similar centers to inside but outside versions of them.

Transition song to go back in room like the ants go marching 1 by 1. 11:15-11:20 Wash hands 11:20-11:25 Lunch and clean up 11:25-12:00pm Story time 12:00-12:10 Nap/quite time 12:10-1:30 Restrooms/put away mats 1:30-1:40 Two hours seemed like a bit much to me for a lot of Toddlers. Most kids I have worked with if they are still taking naps only do for an hour. I added quite time for those who do not take naps. Group time: Sharing 1:40-1:55 Third Learning Center 1:55-2:40 Clean up 2:40-2:45 Wash Hands 2:45-2:50 Snack and clean up 2:50-3:10 I added snacks in to the schedule because kids tend to get a bit hungry in the afternoon and need a little pick me up. Second Outside time/outside centers 3:10-3:50 As I stated earlier I would have the outside centers and this gives the chance to do some of the other centers. Transition song inside 3:50-3:55 Restrooms and wash hands 3:55-4:00 Sadly some schools I have been to have the bathrooms in the hall, also some children need reminders because they get so caught up in their activities that they forget to go until it is too late. Open center area/ Departure 4:00-5:30

When you have a big arrival or departure time you need to keep those children occupied that are still waiting for their parents to arrive. It does not look good to parents when their child is sitting at the door waiting for them or twiddling their fingers board at a table. School Age Schedule
Arrival 2:30- 3:00 Wash Hands 3:00-3:05 Snack and clean up 3:05-3:25 Free Time 3:25-3:45 Homework Time 3:45-4:45 Outdoor time 4:45-5:30 Free play until parents arrive First off after you have been at school all day you need to recharge your brain. Children as well as adults can only learn for a certain amount of time and retain the information without a break. Also if the children go without snack they will be focusing more on their stomachs grumbling then their math assignment. If the children you work with have too hard of a time transitioning from free time to homework you still need to at least give them the snack time. This is what I do with the kids I am with after school now and for the most part it works well. Now that I also have a kindergartener after school we wait to do the free play after snack and homework because it is too hard for him to transition into homework after play, no matter how we have tried to go about it.
