Hindus who broke the rules of the caste system could be banned from their home and caste, which would make
them an untouchable. Some caste rules included not marrying anyone from a different caste and doing your duty.

Indian society was divided by the caste system or groups based on a persons birth, wealth, or occupation. Never do Hindus eat cows. This is because Hindus believe that cows are sacred. Most Hindus dont eat meat
either.

Deities are the idols that Hindus pray to. Major Gods that Hindus pray to are Shiva, Brahma and Vishnu. Untouchables could only hold certain, often unpleasant jobs and didnt belong to any caste. It was also
considered bad luck if an untouchables shadow comes upon your path.

In India and through its development, it created strict rules about how people from different religions could
interact.

Since Hindus believed that everyone has a soul, or atman, inside them, Hindus believed that a persons ultimate
goal should be to reunite the soul with Brahman, the universal spirit.

Meanings of Vedic texts are very important to Hindus. Some of the many important literatures include the
Mahabharata, Ramayana and the Bhagavad Gita.
