Personal Care Your skin

A good skin care regime is one of the most important parts of maintaining your skins health.
Your skin is a living, breathing part of your body and fulfils several major functions including temperature regulation, immune defence, protection from the external environment, etc., you must look after it if you wish to have it work at its optimal level and hope to have good, healthy skin. You should always choose natural skin care products as many commercially mass-produced skin care products utilise potentially toxic chemicals and highly modified natural ingredients. DAILY SKIN CARE REGIME A Simple 3 step skin care regime will set the foundation. There are THREE key steps that both men and women should follow daily in this order: Step one: Cleansing your skin Thorough cleansing is one of the most important steps of a complete skin care regime. Cleansing of your skin should be done morning and night to ensure the removal of surface impurities, make-up, and stale skin oils. When regularly , performed cleansing will enhance the skin s ability to breathe and maintain its other important functions. As well as providing the basis for an advanced skin care regime, effective cleansing can actually improve the quality of our skin, enhancing its radiance and keeping it looking younger for longer. Application: First, moisten your face with lukewarm water. Then apply a small amount of facial cleanser. Gently spread the product over your skin, using light, circular movements. At this stage, spend an extra minute massaging the , product into your face to boost your skin s circulation and help decongestion. Secondly, be sure to be gentle, your skin is a delicate organ Lastly, rinse off the cleanser, using lukewarm water and pat your face dry.

Step two: Toning your skin Toning is the second step in your daily skin care regime. It removes every last bit of the cleanser such as the fine clay particles and other residues from the cleansing process . It , will close the skin s pores to protect it from further loss of moisture and lastly, it provides nutrients and restores the pH balance of your skin. Choose a toner specific to your skin type. Step three: Moisturising your skin This is the third part of your daily skin care regime and should also be done morning and night using a day cream in the morning and a night cream before retiring. A quality moisturiser protects your facial skin from environmental damage, provides nutrients for the skin and prevents loss of moisture, thereby slowing down the aging process. In addition, a moisturiser should help to maintain the acid mantle of your skin, which is part of your immune system and if the pH of your skin becomes too acidic or alkaline, the acid mantel is compromised. WEEKLY REGIME To complete your skin care regime, you should set aside a few minutes once a week, preferably at the weekend to deeply cleanse and nourish your skin. Your weekly treats should include, the use of a facial mask and exfoliation. These treatments encourage cellular repair, step up collagen production and help strengthen, tone and firm up your skin. Facial Clay Mask: Using a clay mask will help to draw toxins from your skin, whilst moisturising and nourishing the skin at the same time. There are different clays that will work for specific skin types and choosing the right products containing the clay that is most suitable to your skin type is important. There are 3 basic clays: Green, Yellow and Red. Exfoliation Dead skin cells are the very top layer of your skin. Exfoliation removes the dead skin cells, promotes blood circulation and helps to invigorate and prepare the skin to more easily absorb any moisturising product you apply. Exfoliation also helps speed up the rate of cell turn over. Using a facial scrub at least once a week, makes your skin more receptive to creams and treatments. However care must be taken not to over exfoliate.

21

Body care
The same guidelines that apply to taking care of facial skin are also applicable when taking care of the rest of the body.
Although you live primarily in Abu Dhabi, you also travel to countries with varying temperatures. Your skin encounters extreme cold, heat and humidity. It is recommended to use gentle shower gels when you bathe followed by moisturising lotions to maintain soft, smooth, supple skin. It is also important that you select a suitable anti-perspirant deodorant that is used together with your chosen fragrance that will endure all weather conditions and long working hours.

22

Your Hands
Hands, apart from the face are the most visible part of you. You use them in everyday activity and must give them the same attention you give your face.
Male and female staff must have well manicured hands at all times It is important to keep your hands moisturised with a suitable moisturising cream (carry one with you) Exfoliate your hands once or twice a week to remove dead, drying skin for extra soft hands.

NAIL CARE Our hands are such an integral part of our daily lives.Take a few minutes each day or at least a few times a week to monitor the condition of your nails. The colour, texture, the appearance of ridges or white spots. Drink lots of water to keep your body hydrated and maintain healthy nails. Keep your nails looking healthy by using nail treatment products containing ingredients such as Vitamin E, Almond oil, Hemp Seed oil and Shea butter, which are easily available on the market.

Your hair
Just like your face and body, a proper hair care regime must be considered to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.
Choosing to purchase high quality brands of shampoo, conditioner, and treatments will ensure that your hair will remain soft, supple, and healthy. The following products should be used by all Etihad Cabin Pilots and chosen for your particular hair type SHAMPOO is designed to remove dirt, oil, impurities, and dandruff from the hair. Removes unwanted build-up without removing too much oil in order to keep hair manageable and healthy. CONDITIONER Is applied after shampooing to keep hair soft and manageable. Apply to the hair, avoid massaging into the scalp.

TREATMENTS include masks or serums, which are designed to provide extra suppleness to dry/damaged hair. These are usually applied to clean damp hair and left on for a period of 2030- minutes before final rinse-off.

23

Your fragrance
Your perfume is a way of expressing your personality, like quality accessories, good perfume adds a finishing touch to your ensemble.
The first step is to think of the kind of smells that you find most attractive, these smells will provide a clue to the kind of fragrances you should be looking for. ooking for. WHEN CHOOSING PERFUME Always try the perfume on your skin, not on the little pieces of cardboard that are offered to you. Perfume mixes with your own personal scent and the end result may be quite different from the perfume itself. Perfumes smell different on different people Spray the perfume on the vein of your wrist where the skin is warm, this will diffuse the scent. Do not sniff the perfume immediately after you spray it. If it has alcohol in it this will assault your senses. Wait a bit. Remember that most perfumes will go through three stages called the top, middle and base notes. You cannot judge a perfume simply on its top notes although this is what will make the first impression. The base notes however last the longest Never rub perfume on your skin, as you will damage the delicate ingredients Etihad Standard When on duty it is recommended to wear a perfume that is light and not overpowering Do not spray too much perfume at once, because when the perfume diffuses in an enclosed environment it can be uncomfortable for guests and colleagues
