North eastern India presents a wide variety of savanna ecosystems. Manas wildlife sanctuary is a protected grassland . It represents two major biomes grassland biome and forest biome Terai Duar savanna grassland stretches from Uttaranchal through south Nepal to North Bengal The ecosystem is home to endangered Indian Rhino , elephant , tigers , bears , leopards. Much of the eco-region has been converted into farmland although Royal Chitawa National Park & Royal Bardia National Park preserve significant section of habitat
