The 2014 North American polar vortex is an ongoing extreme weather event affecting parts of Canada and the

United States east of the Rocky Mountains, extending as far south as Nashville, Tennessee.[2] A cold front originating in the Arctic, initially combined with a nor'easter on January 2, the polar vortex left heavy snowfall and broke coldest temperature records throughout the United States, leading to company, school, and road closures and mass flight cancellations.[1][3][4][5]
