SOCIETAL ILLS are plagues within our community (world, national, or local) that threaten the well being of all citizens. The Task - Create a real original organization to combat a social ill The Purpose To think critically and provide a solution to a real world issue. To hone research, creativeness, presentation, and time management skills. The Steps 1. Research and Write a) Research; Gather as much information that is available about one of these topics. b) Use INFOhio as an academic journal to search: and find a relevant article on: - Miseducation in schools - Chemical Dependency (Drugs, - Eugenics through Abortion Alcohol, and Tobacco) - Gang/Gun-Violence - Bullying - Human Trafficking - Obesity - Media Influence - Socio-Economic Oppression - Genocide - Accepted Mediocrity 2. Write a 5 Paragraph PERSUASIVE Essay using information in the documentary and the article to support the formation of your ORGANIZATION a) Follows all TYPING, STRUCTURE, and GRAMMATICAL RULES b) MUST CONTAIN REFERENCED AND CITED RESEARCH 3. Create an organization a) That students of Shaw High School and the Greater Cleveland area can join, and promote awareness, prevention, growth, and achievement. 4. Create an action plan a) Plan out events and activities that WILL be held or created by this group, which would positively impact the school and local community. 5. Create an A-1 TRI-FOLD, BOOKLET, PAMPHLET, or DETAILED POWERPOINT a) Generate an advertisement or presentation that will generate interest, compel people to join, or make financial contributions towards funding the new organization.
