Nicole Allen EDU 417 Cognitive Studies Capstone Instructor: Angela Coleman January 13,2014

This presentation is to show school systems and administration how brain based learning is more helpful to the students and how it helps them to explore more opportunity in the work they do.

My name is Nicole Allen I am a educator and I think brain compatible learning is being able to learn and understand from all aspects of the situations and give multiple explanation and knowledge on how to handle the situation. I think it also means to use all knowledge gain to help learn more of different thing. I dont think I have any understanding of what brain compatible learning might be but I hope to learn the aspects of it and I also hope it can make me a better educator and understand more of how a child thinks.

Brain-based education is teaching while keeping in mind the way the brain works. There are 12 basic principles to brain-based learning, including; the brain is social, the search for meaning is instinctive, patterning is how we search for meaning, and emotions are crucial to patterning (Chipongian, 2004). These made sense to me when I read about conditions for learning, which included relaxed alertness; a low-threat, high-challenge environment, immersion in experiences (Chipongian, 2004). brain-based learning involves immersing students in an environment that is rich in stimulation and designed to minimize stress or fear, brain compatible learning has a positive effect on students with special needs.

TRADITIONAL LEARNING

BRAIN COMPATIBLE LEARN.

Basic learning Worksheets Reciting different activities Keep a concise schedule

Think outside of the box Making the activities fundamental and understandable Giving children more choices More focus

The Brain

it has multiple functions depending on where it acts it also thought to regulate emotional responses and play a role in schizophrenia. Serotonin-regulates tempeatures, sensory perception and the onset of sleep. Acetylcholine-helps regulate memory and in the peripheral nervous system. Where it controls the actions of skeletal and smooth muscle.
Dopamine

neurochemical is an organic molecule, such as serotonin, dopamine, or nerve growth factor, that participates in neural activity. The science of neurochemistry studies the functions of neurochemicals. Environmental is the energy that world and other thing that go along with it put off in you atmosphere. It makes a difference in the classroom because the factors of each affect how you learn, gain and retain information.

The brain is a very extraordinary learning device. When learning to read it takes time and years from the beginning birth. It starts with being seeing the letter that is store in a place called the letter box. This helps to remember and visualize the letter to connect them appropriately. There are many ways the brain is connected and can help you to learn the connection to reading. When giving words to the brain they start from the back of the brain and move forward and to a hemisphere of the brain. This help people to learn how understand letter and words to make for better understand of reading. The sound process and the visual aids help to transmit the information to the different parts of the brain to help be able to understand learn to read.

Brain Based Learning

With different arts programs being embedded in the classrooms they are very beneficial to the children in all types of classrooms. It gives the children a chance to loosen up and know that learning is not just about pencil and paper. They are able to take things they learned in math class and use it is there culinary class like measuring and mixing thing to get several different out comes . While in art you can use science to broaden your spectrum to add spice to their art work. There are so many ways that art broaden your learning spectrum and it also gets kids eager to use there imagination and think outside of the box. I think when having arts in schools it gives children to see chances for different career goals and help them set opportunities for their self even at a younger age.

a memory activity that was created on website by me for educators to be able to create games to help there students use there memory and gain more focus by not just using pencil and paper

This

type of learning is great for children because it keep them open minded to new ideas and learning systems that are helpful for them to grasp other task throughout school and life . It also keep the children educated and prepared for the upcoming technology of school and being able to still grasp the concepts .
