TUESDAY Learning TargetStudents will improve their writing skills and prepare for the AP exam. They will show their understanding by completing a 40 minute timed essay in response to a prompt. Students will complete an FRQ (free response question) based on the following prompt: In the first five chapters of The Picture of Dorian Gray, characters function, at least in one sense, as archetypes. This means that in addition to being presented as real people with genuine feelings and motivations, they also function as symbols for certain personality types, values, and ideas. Using the first five chapters of the book (and more if you have read it), describe three characters and their function as archetypes in the novel. What do they represent? How does the author make this clear? Make sure to cite the text when constructing your essay.
