What are the standards and expectations for Standard Written English? Other considerations (modifications, accommodations, acceleration, etc.): Students who require it will receive extended deadlines for writing assignments and/or shortened reading. Connections (prior learning/prior knowledge): Students will reference their previous experiences in essay writing and expand upon them. Students will also generate essay prompts based on their own experience. Resources/Materials Teacher: Students: Night

Time allotted MONDAY Learning TargetStudents will learn their areas of strength and areas of deficit in English. They will show their learning by reviewing their Discovery test scores and discussing them in class. Besides the above activity, students will be introduced to the novel Night, and assigned reading.

They will show their learning by completing an FRQ timed essay based on a student-generated prompt. Having completed four timed essays, students will choose one (the one that they think represents their best work) and revise it for Wednesday, 01/22. On Wednesday, they will turn in a first draft with revisions and a second draft.
