The Day I Lost My Temper

The antique clock on the wall struck twelve. It was a cold midnight as it had rained cats and dogs for forty-five minutes. My brother was sleeping soundly on his bed with a warm blanket over him. Besides his bed, I was still burning the midnight oil at my study desk while waiting for my father to come back. fter twenty minutes, the sound of an engine could be heard from the outside of the house. It was followed by a loud noise which I hate to hear. That must be my drunken father again. !verytime he comes home, he is drunk and sometimes he vomits everywhere in the house. It was "ust like drama series which is shown every night in my house. But, this time it was a very different show. My mother saw red with my father#s attitude. $he started to scold my father loudly. Then, they started to quarrel until my brother was awakened. Both of us did not dare to go near my parents. %e peeped through the door of our bedroom to the living room. %e could see our beloved parents quarelling, shouting at each other. $uddenly, my father gave a slap on my mother#s cheek& It really got my monkey up as I ran towards them. I shouted at my father, telling him that he had no right to hit my mother. In return my father gave me hell. 'e hit me with his slippers "ust like a bear with a sore head. I could endure him no longer. I lost my temper and I ran out of the house after saying, (I hate you, daddy&) My father was chasing after me. ll of a sudden, I heard a loud scream. *ne+pectedly, I saw my father lying in blood& My mother was beside her loved one, crying and holding his hands. ,ow, I realised that father was knocked down by a car when he was running on the road. ll of us were like cats on hot bricks. -ne of my neighbours, Mr .im, called an ambulance. The ambulance reached the scene after five minutes. /ather was admitted into hospital. Mother, brother and I were waiting outside the operation room, holding each others hands, praying for my father#s life. I really regretted my actions. If I had not lost my temper and run out of my house, father would not be in the operating theatre now. !ventually, we were told by the doctor that father was safe. %e were happy to hear that. $ince that, I promised that I would never lose my temper again.
