PART 1 Why is it Great?


You are a tourist guide working on the GBR. Your job is to design a tourist brochure on the GBR for overseas visitors to encourage them to come and see it. You must include: a) Scientific Information b) Leisure c) Interesting facts d) Conservation messages

Part 3 Group Work


What we do at home and school affects the GBR
Research ways human impacts might affect the animals and plants of the Reef both locally and globally. Design a cause and effect flow chart as a fact sheet or poster that you could put on a website for people to download or print illustrating the various environmental impacts on the Reefs plants and animals. You will also present this to the class in your group.

PART 2 - Adaptation
Design an animal that suits the GBR environment. You need to provide a drawing of your animal or you can construct a 3D model Provide a report on your animal outlining its external features and why these features help it to adapt to this environment. Your report will need to include the following information: Describe habitat and what it needs to survive - what it eats - where it finds water - where it shelters or hides from predators - where is sleeps or nests. Describe the animals structural adaptations (its external features). Describe the animals behavioural adaptations. Explain how the animals structural and behavioural adaptations help it to survive in its habitat.
