The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants ith the !no ledge and s!ills to prevent recogni"e and respond to a#uatic emergencies and to provide care for $reathing and cardiac emergencies% in&uries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel ta!e over' To enroll in the Lifeguarding course% you must $e at least () years old $efore the last scheduled class session' To participate in the course% you must $e a$le to pass prere#uisite s!ills evaluation that includes the follo ing:
