BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

It is the key of progress along with the technology that has improved the general sports of mankind in recent decades. It has made remarkable growth interests and understanding for even ordinary persons in the street to get involved in sports. Sports has always become everybodys Psychological concern. It is also the things people talks about. It is to determine or identify the factors influencing sports involvement among College of Social Sciences Basketball Varsity of Western Mindanao State.

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

This study aimed to determine the factors influencing sports involvement among College of Social Sciences Basketball Varsity of Western Mindanao State University. 1.) What are the Factors influencing College of Social Sciences Basketball Varsity of Western Mindanao State University in sports involvement? 2.) What are the advantages and disadvantages of these factors influencing the College of Social Sciences Basketball Varsity of Western Mindanao State University?

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Psychologists can make significant impact on the lives of those they teach and guidance program could contribute to the well-being of society. The findings of the study would also provide suggestions and recommendations for enriching and strengthening schools, sports policies and guidance programs. It may be useful as a guideline in the selection of students to be athletes. It may contribute to an effective sports guidance program in all educational levels and eventually our regional sports will find its rightful place in the national stream of our Philippines indigenous culture for national identity.

OPERATIONAL DEFINITION OF TERMS USED

Sports- The term Sport as used in the study refers to physical exertion for recreation or in competition. Involvement- refers to the active participation of varsity athletes in physical activity or activities. Basketball- a game played between two teams of five players each, other object being to throw a ball through an elevated basket on the opponents side.
