1. Formula of calculating the short circuit current capacity The permissible short-circuit current is calculated according to the following formula as given in IEC 60724 , 60986. I=KS

Where, I = Short-circuit current (Amperes) t = Duration of short circuit (Seconds) k = Constant depending on the material of the current-carrying component 0 i = Initial temperature ( C) 0 f = Final temperature ( C) = Reciprocal of temperature coefficient of resistance of the current-carrying component at 0 C (0C) s = Cross-section area of the current-carrying component (mm2) The constants used in the above formula are given in the following tables .
