EXCRETORY SYSTEM

KAMOLLAK T. PAPAWARIN S.

EXCRETORY SYSTEM
Excretion is the process by which the body collects and removes wastes.

Several organs in the body are involved in waste collection and removal, including the liver, lungs, and skin.
The major organs of excretion are kidneys, which are part of the bodys excretory system.

LIVER
Liver converts impurities in the body to less harmful substances. The liver forms urea from a harmful waste product of protein breakdown.

LUNG AND SKIN

Lung the lungs remove carbon dioxide and some water from the body. Skin Sweat glands in the skin excreted water and urea in perspiration.

KIDNEYS
Kidneys eliminate urea, minerals and excess water. Kidneys regulate the amount of water we need to maintain in our bodies.

KIDNEYS
Kidneys filter wastes and excess water from the blood. Ureters tubes that take urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder. Urinary Bladder a sack that stores urine. Urethra small tube that leads urine out of the body.

FILTRATION OF WASTES
Each kidney contains about a million nephrons, tiny filtering units that remove wastes and produce urine. 1. Both needed materials and wastes are filtered from the blood 2. Most needed materials are returned to the blood.

3. The wastes are eliminated from the body.

FILTERING OUT WASTES

Glomerulus is located in nephron. Urea, salts, glucose and some water are filtered there into a thin-walled capsule.

FORMATION OF URINE
The glucose, most of the water, and other needed materials pass from the tube back into the blood. Urea and other harmful substances stay in the tube. The fluid that remains in the tube is urine.

The urine drains into a larger tube called a ureter, which carries it from a kidney to the bladder.

KEEPING HEALTHY
To help your kidneys function at their best, it is important to drink plenty of water and to see a doctor if you have symptoms of an infection. Drinking water Drinking plenty of water is the best way to harmful substances. Treating Infections Urinary tract infections, which are bacterial infections of the urethra or bladder, are common disorders.
Tips Eat more fruit. Add a splash of fruit juice to water. Add lemon or lime to your water.

KEEPING HEALTHY
Preventing Kidney Stones Kidney stones are pebblelike masses of salts, and often calcium. Kidney stones eventually pass out of the excretory system in urine on their own. Treating Kidney Failure Kidneys that are damaged from an injury, diabetes, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or other diseases may fail. During dialysis, a machine is used to filter blood in place of the kidneys.
